This past Fall was an exciting time for me touring In Good Time, The Piano Jazz of Marian McPartland. Starting in October there were 3 screenings in Maine at USM, UNE, and Bowdoin. Then a 2 week tour of the mid-Atlantic states as part of On Screen / In Person. Here’s a blog of the tour. There were many highlights on that tour: The big screen and enthusiastic audience at Allentown Symphony Hall. The full house for a jazz club style audience seating at Rutgers -Newark (NJ) sponsored by the Office of Community Partnerships and WBGO-FM, one of the premiere jazz radio stations in the country. The Tour ended with a flourish at the Rehoboth Beach Independent Film Festival in DE with a great turnout by an enthusiastic film savvy audience.
Back in Maine we had a wonderful 3 day run of screenings at The Movies at the Museum, Portland Museum of Art, followed next with a screening at Railroad Square Cinema, Waterville.
The year ended with a screening at Port Washington Public Library. This was a very special screening as Marian McPartland was there. Port Washington, NY is where she resides. It was a great moment after the screening when I introduced Marian to the audience and they all rose to their feet to give her a standing ovation. It made both our days.
Now I gear up for a busy Winter and Spring of screenings, an animation residency in Epping Elementary School, NH, and adjunct teaching at SMCC. Plus a workshop at ICA in Boston in animation for kids and families in January. Then a weekend session with the New England Film Academy in the Spring. I have upcoming screenings in AZ, MN, VT, MA, NY, and ME. I’ll be at all but MN.
In Good Time does look great on the big screen and the sound is terrific. I know you’ll be pleased if you can make it to a screening. If you do come, please introduce yourself and say hi.
If you can’t make it to a screening then the DVD is available here. I also sell DVDs at screenings.
